Jenson Button will go on maximum attack with the Enstone-based Renault F1 team this year in his bid to one day become world champion.
The 22-year-old realises that the new campaign, which begins in Melbourne's Albert Park on Sunday, will shape his Formula 1 destiny.
Button is determined to display the form that earned him the rookie of the year title in 2000, rather than repeat last season's flop.
He said: "I am going to be a lot more aggressive in racing and qualifying. This is a vital year for me. My results this season will decide where I race next year.
"I know I have got to do the best job I possibly can, and be as competitive as possible. I am totally focused and concentrated on this season and cannot wait for that first race in Australia."
Button, who this year completes his loan deal at Renault, could clinch a return to BMW-Williams if he shows the form he produced on his Grand Prix debut for the Grove-based outfit.
It would be good to get on the podium this season, or even the top of the podium. But we will see what happens."
