Another trio of hi-tech firms have been recognised by the Government.

Voltech Instruments of Milton Park, Abingdon, Indeva Energy Consultants, of Henley, and Oxford Scientific, of Culham Science Centre, Abingdon, have all received prestigious Smart Awards from the Department of Trade and Industry's Small Business Service. They follow Reaction Engines, Ambic Equipment and Onelan on to the local roll of honour.

Voltech, which has received a £150,000 award, is working on a new type of testing instrument for components used in the manufacture of electrical goods such as mobile phones and computers.

Indeva has been researching computer software system designed to help global organisations shape their future business strategy and manage the decision-making process.

The £150,000 award will allow it to go into pre-production.

Oxford Scientific will use its Smart award to fund a study into the technical feasibility of an instrument which produces a beam of ions.

As reported in the Oxford Mail earlier this month, Culham-based Reaction Engines received a £45,000 award, Witney-based Ambic received a similar amount of cash, as did Shiplake-based Onelan.
