A boy of 17 died after he was thrown from his scooter into the path of an oncoming bus in Oxford.
Kelvin Smith, of Thomson Terrace, Littlemore, Oxford, was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident, which happened just before 7.30pm on Friday.
He was travelling along Cowley Road towards the city centre when his Aprilla scooter collided with a traffic island in the middle of the road, by the Belvedere Road junction.
He was thrown from the scooter into the path of a single-deck Oxford Bus Company bus.
An inquest into his death was due to be opened yesterday.
Nobody else was injured in the accident and there were no passengers on the bus.
Police now want to hear from anyone who witnessed the collision, or who saw Kelvin riding his scooter immediately before the accident.
