An Oxford school is making a notable effort for charity with a sponsored musical event.
More than 70 pupils at Headington Junior School, Oxford, including Lucy Huggett, picked up their musical instruments on Monday to launch a two-week Practice-A-Thon.
The young musicians, aged seven to 11, are asking friends and family to sponsor them to play their instruments every day for a fortnight to raise money for the charity Sargent Cancer Care for Children.
Head of music Sally Chappel said: "Practising leads to greater progress and so more enjoyment. Not only are they raising money for a worthwhile charity but developing musical skills and having fun at the same time."
