The latest sports craze literally sweeping the nation has failed to catch on in the county.

Following the women's curling team gold medal victory at the Winter Olympics in Salt Lake City, the English Curling Association has been flooded with inquiries from the public asking where they can play the sport.

But Oxford Ice Rink centre's manager, Mark Saunders, said the response locally had been barely noticeable. "We have only had a couple of enquiries from people calling up. We used to do curling here a long time ago but there wasn't enough interest," he said.

However, Mr Saunders is not ruling out making the rink available for curlers if enough local people are interested.
