A district council is putting the new primary health care trusts in its area under the microscope.
News that there could be a re-organisation of the recently formed trusts has prompted the move.
Preventing ill health is one of South Oxfordshire District Council's key strategic objectives, so its scrutiny committee wants to look at all four trusts. The new Thames Valley Health Authority has already set up its own task force.
Scrutiny committee chairman Ann Ducker said: "This is a very important issue for all communities within south Oxfordshire. We aim to protect the interests of people in south Oxfordshire and that is why the scrutiny committee will be looking at these new trusts."
The district council's area is covered by four primary care trusts -- South East Oxfordshire, South West Oxfordshire, Oxford City, and, for Thame, the Vale of Aylesbury.
