Thames Water has so far donated £150,000 to promote safe water supplies, thanks to a website it operates in conjunction with the charity WaterAid.

Since February, the site has received two million visits. Every visit to the site raises more money for the charity.

Now Thames Water has announced a new target of four million visits to be reached by the end of this month.

If enough people visit the website, the company will donate another £50,000 to the charity.

Every eight seconds a child in the developing world dies from diseases caught from drinking unsafe water.

The extra £50,000 could bring clean water supplies to more than 4,500 people now at risk in Africa or Asia.

Another 30,000 clicks on the websitewww.givewater.org are needed to meet the fundraising target.
