A Horspath family returned from a holiday in the Canaries to find the burnt-out wreck of a car on their doorstep.
Gary Weaving with the burnt-out car
While Gary and Sarah Weaving and their daughter, Ella, seven, were soaking up the sun in Lanzarote, car thieves dumped an old banger outside their home in Butt Road, leaving it sticking out into the road.
Friends looking after the house called the police and council offices, but were unable to get it moved. To make matters worse, vandals later set fire to it. Heat from the fire blackened the Weavings' stone front wall and set light to a wooden fence.
Mr Weaving, a stonemason with APS Masonry in Osney Mead, Oxford, said he had also been unable to get the wreck shifted since the family's return last Friday. He said it posed a serious accident hazard and added: "We're feeling a bit let down."
