An Oxford solicitor is cycling more than 200 miles across three counties to raise £6,000 for charitable causes.

Jeremy Irwin-Singer, set to cycle 200 miles for charityJeremy Irwin-Singer, president of the Berkshire, Buckinghamshire and Oxfordshire Law Society, will be raising funds for five charities.

Mr Irwin-Singer said: "I thought this would be a good opportunity to get solicitors to put their hands in their pockets for charity. I have already raised more than £3,000 and I am hoping to double that amount."

Starting on Sunday evening, the solicitor, from Linnells Solicitors in Paradise Square, Oxford, will be cycling to Lambourn across the Berkshire Downs. The charities set to benefit from the sponsored cycle ride are:

Against Breast Cancer (ABC), which aims to increase the survival rates of women who have breast cancer through research at the Churchill Hospital, Oxford;

The Clive Project, which supports young people with early onset dementia;

The Pendyffryn Children's Trust, which provides holidays by the Pembrokeshire seaside for children who are victims of war or other trauma;

Seesaw, which provides bereavement counselling for young people under 18 who lose a parent or sibling;

SSNAP, which provides support for premature or sick babies and their parents.
