Colin Palmer, chief sub-editor of the Oxford Mail's sister paper, the Bicester Advertiser, has been voted Newsquest weekly newspaper designer of the year.
The Bicester Advertiser's editor, Derek Holmes, said: "Colin has been associated with the Bicester Advertiser for a number of years and puts a tremendous amount of hard work and dedication into making sure it is an excellent newspaper. This award is richly deserved."
Judge Mike Lowe, editor of the Bristol Evening Post, praised Colin's work as "consistently well presented, easy to navigate with layouts and typography well organised and pictures used well". David Hall, chief sub-editor of The Oxford Times, who was also shortlisted in the weekly newspaper designer of the year category, was congratulated for making his pages well presented and easy to read.
Both the Bicester Advertiser and Witney Gazette were shortlisted in the category for weekly newspapers under 64 pages.
Newsquest is the UK's second largest regional newspaper publisher, producing more than 300 titles.
