Banbury got their Division 1 campaign back on track - but were made to work hard for their third win of the season which came in the last over at home to Beaconsfield on Saturday.

The visitors were kept tied down early on, the first 16 overs producing a paltry 20 runs before skipper Alistair Storie began to increase the tempo.

The former Warwicks and Scotland batsman led from the front, batting throughout the innings for an unbeaten 106.

He received good support from Shomit Dutta, who hit 51 from 64 balls in a fourth-wicket stand of 111 before Paul Taylor, wicketless until then, struck twice in the final over.

Chasing 226 to win, Banbury's reply began at a good pace, which was just as well as a rain interruption took five overs from their allocation with the score at 65-1 after 16 overs.

After the resumption, Craig Haupt kept the momentum going before becoming one of Jeremy Batty's five victims, his 81 coming off just 90 deliveries and including three big sixes and nine fours.

After his departure, the experienced Taylor took charge, guiding the side home with some well-placed ones and twos.

Banbury eventually sealed a two-wicket victory off the first ball of the final over to stay well-placed in third behind the leaders.
