Police investigating the death of a 16-year-old boy believe he might have inhaled something toxic shortly before collapsing.
Kevin Field was with a group of friends in Albert Park, Abingdon, on June 3 when he passed out.
Paramedics were called and took him to Oxford's John Radcliffe Hospital but they were unable to resuscitate him.
Kevin, of Saxton Road, Abingdon, had been due to start work doing odd jobs with a friend the following day.
He had recently finished studying at Northfield School in Blackbird Leys, Oxford.
An inquest in Oxford was opened and adjourned to allow police more time to complete their inquiries.
Further tests are being carried out and one line of inquiry involves possible substance abuse. Kevin's mother Lynda said: "We still don't know yet what caused my son's death.
"Substance abuse is one area they are looking at but as far as I know he wasn't into that sort of thing and he was definitely not involved in drugs."
The funeral service for Kevin is due to take place tomorrow at 1pm at St James the Great Church, in Radley, followed by burial at the Spring Road cemetery in Abingdon.
