Mr Walker, 56, of Ditchley Road, Charlbury, will join 60 others leaving Greenwich on Wednesday, July 24.
This is the second time Mr Walker, a former director of environmental services at Oxford City Council, has taken part in the event.
Two years ago, he raised more than £1,000 for the same charity.
Mr Walker said: "In a triumph of hope over experience I'm about to do it again. We should raise a record amount of money."
