Joe, 18, chose the scheme as his major project for his A-level in design technology.
School librarian Christine Charlton said: "I asked Joe for a unit which could be used flexibly for displaying books and other objects, and his design is superb. The design perfectly fulfils its purpose."
Joe, who lives in Brize Norton, has just completed his A-levels in philosophy and ethics, physics, and design technology.
He is now taking a year out to travel and work a little, before going on to university to study design engineering.
Joe said: "I really enjoy problem-solving and finding solutions to interesting concepts, and the library design was an exciting project for me."
