A Grove woman has celebrated her 70th birthday by raising hundreds of pounds for cancer research.
Brenda Izzard, of Miles Drive, had a birthday lunch for 60 friends and relatives at the Four Pillars Hotel, in Witney. But instead of giving presents, guests were invited to make a donation to Cancer Research UK.
A raffle was also held, bringing the total amount of money raised for the cause to £900.
Mrs Izzard said she was prompted to raise money for the charity after she lost her brother-in-law and a friend to cancer within two days.
She said: "Staff at both the Churchill Hospital and the John Radcliffe Hospital in Oxford were absolutely wonderful, so raising this money was a way of saying 'thank you' to them."
