Banbury's Derbyshire brothers were shunted out of the race as they led the latest round of the Radical Enduro Sports Car Championship at Magny-Cours in France.
The event, run over two one-hour races, was going according to plan when Jamie Derbyshire took the chequered flag 2.6 seconds clear of Mick Mercer to win the first race, and give brother Adam pole position at the start of the second.
But at the first bend Greg Caton, who had started on the third row of the grid, got out of shape over one of the kerbs and shunted Adam off the circuit, and two other cars out of the race. The retirement saw the brothers' chances of back-to-back victories ended in the French gravel.
Jamie said: "We've seen footage of what happened taken from a following car. Caton just lost it on the kerb and Adam happened to be in the wrong place at the wrong moment."
