Oxford City's players have the chance to test themselves against top opposition tonight (Tues), when newly-promoted Reading visit Court Place Farm (7.45).

Former Oxford United keeper Phil Whitehead, as well as Jamie Cureton, whose goal against Brentford saw the Royals clinch promotion to Division 1, ex-Birmingham City frontman Nicky Forster, who was the club's top scorer last season with 18 goals, and Trinidadian striker Tony Rougier, have been named in the Reading team.

Rougier is remembered by Oxford United fans for helping Royals to inflict a 4-3 defeat on the U's three seasons ago with a brace, after coming on as a substitute at the Madjeski Stadium.

Royals are also playing Basingstoke Town tonight and Reading manager Alan Pardew said that there would be a split of senior professionals and academy players in both games.

City aim to parade their new signing Justin Miller, who has joined them from Swindon Town, plus a number of unnamed trialists.

They will be without Kelvin McIntosh, who is likely to miss the start of the new season with a groin injury, Matty Whitehead and Matty Hayward, who are both recovering from knee operations.

Also out of the starting line-up are Lewis Craker, who is away on honeymoon, Danny Wise, who is on holiday, and Chris Organ, who is still recovering from the severe injuries he suffered last August in a car crash.

Oxford C: Webb, Woodhouse, Dark, Smith, Druce, Ferreira, Billington, Holder, Arkins, Wimble, Miller.

Reading: from Whitehead, Davies, Shorey, Watson, Williams, Viveash, Hughes, Gamble, Forster, Cureton, Rougier, Youngs.
