Northbourne Primary School headteacher Kathleen Cook said: "Children and staff have been preparing for the school's anniversary for months."
Among the highlights were an attempt to recreate a school day when the school occupied a Victorian building, next to the former St Peter's Church, in Church Street.
The present school opened in Cockcroft Road in 1962.
As part of the anniversary celebrations, children and staff dressed in Victorian costume to take part in Victorian-style lessons and a Victorian tea party.
Didcot mayor Ian Townsend opened the school's Victorian fete.
Visitors to the school included many former pupils and staff.
Pupils also visited the site of the former school, and took part in a commemorative service, attended by the Bishop of Reading, the Rt Rev Dominic Walker, at St Peter's Church.
