Palestinian families living in Oxfordshire have launched a new initiative to help schoolchildren in the Israeli-occupied West Bank.
The Oxford-based Children of Palestine Society aims to support schools damaged by recent fighting.
It was founded by ex-patriate Palestinians and their supporters, and launched on July 6 at a fundraising dinner at the Al Shami Lebanese restaurant in Walton Crescent, Jericho.
There is growing concern among human rights campaigners that children are failing to get basic health care and education. Many towns remain under curfew, following a crackdown on suspected militants.
Schools lack books and equipment, and pupils risk coming under fire.
The Children of Palestine Society has already raised more than £2,500 through fundraising and the sale of handicrafts. The Society's founder, Sarah El-Guindi, said: "We're doing all the work ourselves and desperately need people's support.
"Schools in the West Bank need books and basic resources which they haven't got. People there are struggling just to find enough to eat."
The society is seeking charity status.
