Crowds of pupils, parents, governors and former staff gathered to celebrate the opening of a teaching block at Cranford House School in Moulsford, near Wallingford.
More than 100 people watched former headmistress Alison Gray officially open the building at the independent school.
It marked the completion of the first phase of work on the school's Maple Court senior teaching block, where extra classrooms, a library and communications suite are planned.
School registrar Jean Simmons said: "We have the highest number of pupils for more than 30 years so the development is very important.
"People are looking forward to seeing the finished result."
