Richard Dodds and Paul Hulcup both bagged their first goals for Rover after moving from City of Oxford in the summer.

Dodds's was a brilliant individual run with a smart shot, while Hulcup's was an opportunist strike from just inside the circle.

Toby Langdon added a third before the break with another sweet strike into the corner of the goal.

Midway through the second half, Langdon converted a a short-corner strike, and Drew Vermeulen netted the fifth late on.

City of Oxford's improvement was evident from their 1-1 draw with West Hampstead in the Regional division.

Last year, West Hampstead finished in the top three and did the double over City.

But on Saturday it was a much more even, end-to-end encounter with Simon Mould hitting City's goal.

Abingdon romped to an emphatic 5-1 victory over Windsor in Division 2.

Kev Smith opened the scoring for Abingdon with a flick into the roof of the net at their first penalty corner.

But Alex Johnson equalised for Windsor when he scored with a first-time shot from ten yards.

Abingdon restored their lead from a penalty corner when Ron Smith flicked the ball past the defenders on the line after the ball rebounded off the Windsor goalkeeper.

Shortly after half-time, Kev Smith scored his second and Abingdon's third when he beat the last Windsor defender and took the ball into the circle before flicking it past the advancing keeper.

Midway through the second half, Nathan Conn set up Will Trigg to score Abingdon's fourth with a close-range effort.

And, with the whistle having already been blown for full time, Abingdon added a fifth with the last strike of the match when the Windsor goalkeeper completely misjudged Ross Morgan's weak penalty corner strike and kicked the ball into his own goal.

Witney went down 3-1 at home to Harrow.

The visitors went ahead after just three minutes, but Witney equalised with a cool finish from Paddy Daniel.

Keeper Chris Myhill made some excellent saves for the second week running, but he couldn't do anything about strikes either side of the break.

Wallingford made it two wins out of two with a 2-1 victory over Enfield.

Enfield converted a short corner to go one up within the first 20 minutes.
