A man using hairspray too close to a gas boiler has escaped unharmed despite sparking a small explosion.
Firefighters were called to a terraced house in Westfield Road, Witney, following the incident yesterday (October 14).
The vapour from a damaged hairspray can had been set alight by a gas boiler in the ground-floor room.
Assistant Divisional Officer Derek Procter, said: "The man didn't realise it was flammable and when the vapour hit the boiler it put a flash fire across the room."
The flame damaged a duvet.
