Fairies, witches and goblins from children's story books appeared at an Oxford school to celebrate National Book Week.
Nearly 250 pupils and teachers at Headington Junior School dressed as their favourite book characters to mark the culmination of a series of Book Week events.
Among the most popular characters chosen by school children were Rapunzel, 101 Dalmatians villain Cruella De Vil, Peter Pan's Captain Hook and Bob the Builder.
Several workshops were organised by the London Road school, which aims to encourage more people to read. Talks were given by Simon Mason, author of acclaimed children's book The Quigleys, and poet James Carter.
The Travelling Theatre Company also performed The Gingerbread Man and the pupils created characters from ceramics.
