A robber who snatched a £200 necklace from a woman before kissing her on both cheeks has begun a prison sentence.

Dean Jackman, 38, of Brandon Close, Kidlington, was sentenced to three-and-a-half years in jail after admitting robbery and theft at Oxford Crown Court on Monday, October 14.

The father-of-three had earlier admitted snatching a gold necklace from a 21-year-old woman, who was waiting for a bus in Speedwell Street, Oxford, on July 7.

Paul Mitchell, prosecuting, said Jackman had warned: "I will kill you. Look in my eyes. Do you want to die?"

He then kissed her on both cheeks before making off.

The woman, who was left terrified by the incident, later picked Jackman out in an identity parade.

In a second incident on August 10, he went into General Stores, in Magdalen Road, Oxford, while drinking a bottle of beer and demanded £10 so he could get to London.

When the owner of the shop refused, Jackman threatened to kill him and his wife.

The owner eventually handed him £10 and Jackman walked off -- but left his bottle of beer in the shop and was identified from fingerprints on it.

Nick Sytret, defending, blamed drink and drugs for the offences.

He said: "This is not the behaviour of a ruthless criminal."

The court was told Jackman has a number of previous convictions for similar offences.
