Eynsham Scouts are preparing to raise money for a new headquarters -- and they want to hear from anyone who has surplus building materials to spare.

The new headquarters will replace the present one in Back Lane and is likely to cost about £150,000.

Group spokesman Ian Keeley said: "The headquarters has served the group well for the past 40 years or so, but sadly it's reached the point where a great deal of money needs to spent on it."

Phase one of the project will involve demolishing the building and putting up a new shell.

The Scouts began their fundraising drive with a jumble sale and race night, which each raised more than £500. They are offering a recycling service for office materials such as toner and printer cartridges and mobile phones.

A Christmas bazaar and jumble sale will be held at the headquarters on Saturday, November 2, starting at 10am.

Mr Keeley said: "As well as fundraising we're keen to hear from anyone who has surplus materials left over from building projects to help us bring down our overall costs.

"We're fortunate to have committed and enthusiastic leaders in all sections and a thriving membership."
