Betty Standingford, county councillor for New Marston, was taken to hospital after falling down a flight of stairs in County Hall in Oxford.
Mrs Standingford, who is in her eighties, fell down the concrete flight of stairs next to the foyer yesterday.
Fellow Labour councillor Margaret Ferriman said Mrs Standingford was on her way to a meeting when the fall occurred. She said: "We don't know if she fell or slipped, and the paramedics were called to take her to hospital for a check-up."
