National re-organisation within the Scouts means the top award will no longer be available to 14 to 18-year-olds.

The badge will be for the newly set-up Network Scouts, for young men aged between 18 and 25.

Jill Edwards, acting leader, said: "In the 26 years we have had a Ventures unit we have had seven young men gain the Queen's Scout badge and Craig is our eighth."

To match people's changing aspirations, the upper age limit for Scouts has been raised to 25, and Venture Scouts, aged between 14 and 18, will be called Explorer Scouts.

Craig, of Shaw Close, Bicester, has worked his way through the Scouts, having joined as a Beaver at six.

As a Cub Scout he gained the Venture Quest and Chief Scout's award.

Among the tasks he undertook for the Queen's badge was a month in Kenya.

He worked with children in the African bush, on a World Challenge expedition, along with other pupils at Bicester Community College.
