East Oxford's Manzil Gardens has been declared the first alcohol-free area in the city.

The council and police jointly launched the new street drinking ban on October 21 -- the first of a number to be set up in coming weeks.
More will come into force on October 28.
Signs warn people that they could be fined £500 if they flout the ban.
Mrs Brown said: "The street drinking ban will further help us to keep spaces like Manzil Gardens safe for the community as it gives the police real power to deal with street drinking."
