Oxford City have suffered a massive blow with striker Mark Druce, who has been troubled by hip and back problems all season, being told by a specialist to take a complete rest from the game.

The news was confirmed after the ex-Oxford United, Rotherham and Kidderminster player, who joined the club from Woking and is contracted until the end of the season, underwent a scan.

Manager Paul Lee said: "It's desperate for the player and desperate for the club. Basically, he's been told that if he doesn't take a break he could suffer problems later on in life.

"He has only been able to play 20 minutes at a time. He will probably be out for the rest of the season.

"He is training to be an accountant, so at least he will be able to dedicate himself full time to that."

Meanwhile, Andy Smith returns for tonight's (Wed) visit to Hemel Hempstead Town in Ryman League Division 1 North, as City aim to extend their unbeaten run to seven games.

Shaun Wimble is doubtful after going over on an ankle.

Mark West is likely to return to Thame United's line-up for their visit to high-flying Barking & East Ham in Ryman Division 1 North.

He missed Saturday's 2-0 win over Great Wakering as he was at a wedding.

Thame boss Andy Sinnott said: "That's three wins in a row. We're now starting to put our chances away."

Scoring sensation Norman Sylla will be looking to continue his incredible form as Banbury United make the trip to Erith & Belvedere in the Dr Martens League Eastern Division.

Sylla, who was watched by Worcester City on Saturday, netted a four-timer in the 4-1 drubbing of Sittingbourne to take his tally to 18 goals in 15 starts.
