Oxford Bulls went down 13-6 to the current UK Rec champions Slough Tornadoes, in their first friendly game at the Oxpens ice rink.

The Bulls are a side made up of players from Oxford City Stars' disbanded National League side, plus some of the club's juniors.

They are playing friendlies against some of the sides that Stars would have met in the league.

Slough led 6-0 after finding their way past Oxford's French keeper Nicolas Simoes.

With two minutes left in the second period Oxford hit back, local lad Marlon Williams fed Kazakhstan's Eldar Tulebayev, who scored the Bull's historic first goal. Defender Paul Crockett added a second to leave Bulls trailing 8-2.

Oxford's display in the final period showed a lot of hope for the future, as goals from Canadian Phillipe Sauv and Kevin Biggs, James Schall and a strong slap-shot from Paul Crockett added a little respectability to the final score.

Afterwards, Bulls announced the signings of former Oxford City Stars Derek Flint and Daryl Williams. These signings will bolster the Bulls who look to have a bright future.

The Bulls' next match is at home to the Streatham Chiefs on November 3.
