A man found dead in the River Thames at Wallingford could have slipped on the river bank and fallen in, an inquest heard.
The body of Michael Mather, 36, was found floating in the river about 200m downstream from Bradford's Brook on February 1.
Cyclist Christopher Gamester, of Hurst Close, Wallingford, found the body at 2.20pm, Oxford Coroner's Court heard.
Mr Gamester said the river was flowing fast due to rain and sections of the bank were eroded, making the towpath narrow and muddy in places.
Coroner Nicholas Gardiner recorded a verdict of accidental death.
He said: "I don't find it the least bit surprising that someone should slip and fall in."
