A man who started his life in farming, using horse-drawn ploughs, has died at the age of 89.
Michael Badger was brought up at Grove Farm in Brize Norton. After marrying Betty Hoskins, he took up tenancy of land at Chilson, near Charlbury, and farmed there for more than 50 years.
For the last four years he lived at the Old Prebendal nursing home in Shipton-under-Wychwood.
His daughter Pamela Lewis said: "He earned great respect in the farming community."
He is survived by two daughters and two sons. The funeral will be at St Mary's Church in Charlbury, on Friday (November 1), at 2pm.
