City of Oxford lost their unbeaten record in Middlesex, Berks, Bucks & Oxon Regional with a 5-3 defeat at home to table-topping Milton Keynes in a rip-roaring encounter.
Andy Small finished neatly with a reverse-stick shot into the top of the net to give City the lead with their first attack.
Milton Keynes equalised with an equally spectacular shot.
But City continued to push forward and were rewarded when Simon Harrison picked up a loose ball after a strong run from Mike Bunce and smashed home a shot.
However, Milton Keynes were level again by the break.
And despite good defending from Alex Cock and former Welsh international Matt Beynon, they scored two more goals in the second half, before City replied with a solo effort from Simon Mould.
With City pushing hard for the equaliser, Milton Keynes took advantage and scored their fifth with the last hit of the game.
