Love flourishes amid racial tension and gang warfare in a student production of Leonard Bernstein's musical West Side Story, which comes to the Oxford Playhouse next week.

Kari Moffatt, who plays Maria, rehearses her role as one of the star-crossed lovers

A Director Wayne Ives has used scaffolding and broken fences to depict the gritty city slums where the Jets and Sharks do battle.

West Side Story, which is being staged by Marmot Productions in association with OUDS, opens at the Oxford Playhouse on Wednesday, November 6 and runs until Saturday, November 9.
