Children at a Wallingford school have been working hard to help make Christmas a happier time for refugee children in eastern Europe.
Caitlin Whiteshaw, five, and George Skilling, four, help fill the presents
They collected toys, toothbrushes, pencils, colouring books and paper to fill a shoebox. The pupils at St John's Primary School filled 75 shoeboxes for the charity Samaritan's Purse, after deciding whether to collect goods for boys or girls, and for what ages.
Teacher Sarah Burgess, who co-ordinated the children's efforts, said: "They worked very hard to get just the right things together.
"And each one has put in a greetings card to make the gift more personal.
"They will certainly make this Christmas a joy for children far less fortunate than these here in Wallingford."
