WHITEHAWK 2, ABINGDON TN 0: Abingdon Town were unable to match last season's exploits in the Vase as their young side bowed out to Sussex County League side Whitehawk in Brighton.
Without striker Danny Wise, who has rejoined Oxford City, plus injured duo John McMahon and Tristan Didcock, and Dave Tregurtha, who was taking an exam, Abingdon did well early on.
After an even first-half, Town's Mark Scanes almost broke the deadlock before Dave Venton fired home a free-kick for Whitehawk on 68 minutes.
It looked as though Town could claw their way back, but Pattendon ended their hopes four minutes from time, heading home Venton's free-kick.
