A part-time soldier walked away with a silver medal at a cooking competition.

Paul Brogdale, of Bicester, was part of an 18-strong Territorial Army team taking part in the inter-service Salon Culinare competition, in London.

Lance corporal Brogdale, who joined the TA in 1998, works full-time as a chef. He is working at a hotel in Dorset, but plans to return to Oxfordshire soon and set up a business, which will see him cooking in people's homes.

He said: "I have had more recognition with the TA than anything else. I have won three silver medals and one gold."
