Cherry Red Records Hellenic League report
Despite losing Kai Ridley in the warm-up, Abingdon gave their best performance for a few weeks and took the lead after 14 minutes. Frankie Dorrian's strike, from the edge of the area, flew into the net.
Yate hit back just before half-time through Simpson, who gave keeper John Beames, on his debut after signing from Milton United, no chance.
Richard Peirson suffered an ankle injury in the second half and Dorrian and Pete Moss had chances to score, before Yate got the winner in the 70th minute with a fluke goal from Bennett.
Beames came out to kick clear and the ball hit Bennett on the back and looped back into goal.
