DEVIZES TN 3, WANTAGE TN 2: Wantage Town made the worst possible start when Devizes scored straight from the kick-off, Dix netting from the edge of the 18-yard box.
Poor defending presented Devizes with a one-on-one chance which Godley converted to make it 2-0 on five minutes, and the same player scored No 3 ten minutes later.
To their credit, Wantage fought back gamely and were by far the better side after the break.
Their perseverance was rewarded when Chris Roche was fouled by the home keeper and Paul Bedwell scored from the spot on 55 minutes.
Ten minutes later, Derek Burke's perfectly-flighted ball was met by Chris Roche, who outjumped the keeper to head home.
Paul Belcher in the Wantage goal pulled off a brilliant one-handed save as Devizes threatened briefly, and although Wantage pressed hard in the last quarter, they could not find an equaliser.
