SIR -- Is this another cunning ploy to raise revenue?

On Saturday, I noticed the 40mph signs had been removed from near the Crossroads Road Garage in Banbury Road, Kidlington, and that new 30mph signs had been erected northbound in Oxford Road in a different location to the old ones.

Approaching the village from the north, new 30mph signs have been erected just north of the Langford Lane junction replacing the 40mph sign.

I read the public notices both in your paper and your sister paper. I do not recall seeing any 'public notice' in respect of this change in speed limit.

I suspect the vast majority who use this road will not have noticed the reduction of the speed limit.

I am expecting in the next week or so, to see mobile speed cameras appearing on this busy stretch of road at peak periods and the cash register at Thames Valley Police will be going 'Ching, ching' at a very fast rate of knots.

Is that being too cynical, I wonder?
