There was a serious injury in Sunday's David Charles Oxfordshire Cup tie between Grove and Wallingford, but that was completed (unlike the Bicester-Witney tie), with Grove romping home 74-7 against their local rivals.
Wallingford lock Jason Hollis had to be stretchered off after damaging his neck in the first half.
But, fortunately, the injuury was not as serious as first feared and he was released from hospital that evening.
While waiting for the ambulance to arrive, the game was switched to the neighbouring pitch, once debris from the previous night's firework display had been removed.
Grove, who welcomed back Ben Nicholl and Duncan Barbour to the pack after injury, were already 30 points to the good at that stage and cantered to a comfortable victory.
Both giant back row forward Mike Turner and winger Nick Sevier scored a hat-trick of tries.
Grove's other scores came from fly half Richard Williams (2), centres Jason Evans and Ben Dean, prop James Eckert and scrum half Paul Maryon. Williams landed seven conversions.
To their credit, Wallingford, who play one division lower than their opponents, never gave up and were rewarded with a late try from full back Henry Venners, following a kick and chase.
Gosford All Blacks conceded their tie against Henley Wanderers, as they were unable to raise a side.
