BT is aiming to tap into the £2bn home computing market with the launch of a PC service.
The group said 70 per cent of owners admitted to shouting, swearing or being violent towards their computer when it crashed, froze or malfunctioned.
Only 25 per cent felt able to fix their computer themselves.
BT is selling a package which allows people to buy a PC, have it installed and receive back-up support for a monthly fee.
All PCs will come with broadband, which BT has spent £33m promoting, as standard.
BT will sell eight packages, ranging from a standard desktop for £35.99 a month to an advanced desktop for £68.99 a month.
Purchases can be made over the telephone or via the BT website.
The payments are over a three-year period, at 12.9 per cent APR.
Angus Porter, managing director of BT Retail's consumer division, said: "Lots of people have a PC, but there are a high number who are dissatisfied."
He said advertising spending on the service would amount to a "couple of million".
