A boarding house for St Edward's School pupils is to be built in north Oxford.
It will consist of two three-storey buildings alongside Oakthorpe Road, linked by a single storey corridor.
Two garage blocks and a temporary classroom will be demolished to make way for the development.
A metal fence with razor wire surrounding the Oakthorpe Road entrance to the site will be taken down following complaints from residents.
A 45-space staff car park near the Esporta sports complex, Woodstock Road, will be created.
The school has agreed to consider contributing towards the cost of a pelican crossing on Woodstock Road as part of the deal.
