SIR -- The Gibraltarians voted in favour of remaining British and do not want dual nationality.
Why? This would give them the opportunity to experience life in mainland Spain.
Better roads, better health service and decent railways, not to mention much cheaper living expenses.
Then again, if Britain were to cede Gibraltar to Spain would we have 20,000 more immigrants flooding in to Britain.
If not, would the British people mind paying more tax to support the 20,000 should Spain close the border to isolate them again.
The question is why do the Gibraltarians insist on remaining British?
Surely they are looking back three centuries to a time when Britain ruled the world. I wonder if, three centuries ago, Spain had ruled part of Cornwall, would the situation be different?
