Police have named the man whose body was found in the Oxford Canal, near Hythe Bridge Street, last Friday (November 8).

He was Kevin Strong, 43, a resident of Lucy Faithful House hostel for the homeless in Speedwell Street, Oxford.

Mr Strong was found lying face down in the waterway, less than 50 yards from the main road, by a walker using the towpath alongside Upper Fisher Row.

His death is not thought to be suspicious.

Detectives have renewed their appeal for witnesses who may have seen Mr Strong in Hythe Bridge Street, Worcester Street, or near the canal, between 9pm on Thursday and 10.20am the following morning.

He was wearing black jeans, black training shoes, a black mid-length jacket, and an orange T-shirt.
