HORSHAM 1, ABINGDON TN 1: Peter Lamont gave his chances of taking over the mangerial reins at Abingdon Town a great boost after last night's promising display in the first round of the Ryman League's Bryco Cup.
The assistant manager stepped into the breach following the resignation of Alan Thorne as manager of the Ryman League Division 2 club on Monday.
It looked as though he would start with a win after Chris Harper gave them the lead after only two minutes.
However, Horsham battled back to take the game into extra-time.
The sides now face a replay, on a date to be fixed.
Abingdon chairman Phil Evans said they were interviewing for the vacant manager's post and hoped to appoint a new boss by the end of the week.
