Lord Sainsbury, the Under Secretary of State for Science, is due to visit the Culham Science Centre near Abingdon on Friday to see the UKAEA and JET nuclear fusion projects.
He will be briefed on developments in fusion research, including the status of planning for the next phase international ITER project. Governments are due to decide whether to press ahead with ITER next year.
