White Horse Harriers will look to continue where they left off as they host Round 2 of the Oxford Mail Cross Country League at Lambourn this Sunday (December 1, 10am).

Pete WilsonOn their home soil, and leading the men's standings after a successful opening round at Ascott-under-Wychwood, Harriers will be expecting for more success this time around, especially with the re-emergence of Pete Wilson.

Wilson looked in incredibly good shape in the opening round after a return from injury.

With leading veteran Tim Hughes also expected to return, White Horse's chances of team glory have increased.

However, they could be pushed hard by Woodstock Harriers, who should be stronger after a disappointing first round.

Headington Roadrunners' Richard Bromley is in line for a return to competition, while Witney Roadrunner Mathew Ashton will hope to go one better than his second place in the first round on the back of his encouraging display at the Roslaire Cross Country meeting in Belgium, where he ran for the South of England.

However, with first-round winner Dan Leggate also likely to run, both Ashton and Bromley, as well as Headington's Gary Harris, will have their work cut out to stop the Cirencester runner.

In the ladies' event, it's likely to be Headington Roadrunners all the way again, with awesome quartet Allison Hirst, Iona Robertson, Jude Craft and Tracey Galbraith all in tremendous form.

One of the most exciting races could be in the ladies Vet 35 race where Hirst and Galbraith may go head-to-head again.

As for the individual honours, former league winner Wendy Jones (Cirencester), who missed most of last season after having a baby, is expected to make a return. Alongside Ellen Leggate and Sarah Pinwoodie, they could challenge Headington for the team honours.
