Street wardens are to help police tackle rising car crime in Banbury.
Figures from April to November this year show a sharp rise in thefts from vehicles, up from 412 incidents last year to 498.
To cut the figures, police and wardens employed by Cherwell District Council -- including Stella Lydiatt, pictured with Pc Lynda Buchett -- will join forces in the run-up to Christmas to check parked cars to see if valuables are on view.
If they spot anything which might attract thieves, police will write to the owners with crime prevention tips.
