Cherry Red Records Hellenic League preview: Striker Carl Henry has set his sights on helping newly-formed Witney United to league success after rejecting a move to fellow Division 1 West side Chipping Norton Town.

Carl HenryHenry, who has only played two games for his new club, scoring five goals, was the subject of a seven-day approach from Chippy, but has opted to stay at Marriotts Stadium.

He said: "I'm enjoying it so much at Witney. I've got a new lease of life from somewhere, and I believe I have a point to prove to myself and others because I've had a bad couple of years.

"I want to give something back to Witney because I know the people in charge there now are good people, unlike the past.

"The manager and coach they have are the best two coaches I've worked with in Oxfordshire."

Henry, who played for Witney Town in the Southern League, added that he wanted to settle in with the west Oxfordshire outfit, and finish his playing career there.

"It's not all about money," he said. "It's about enjoying my football. I come away from training happy, and that hasn't been me since I moved to Oxford.

"I'm really looking forward to the next four years and hopefully have some success with Witney United. I don't intend to move anywhere else now until my playing days are over."

Henry puts his league ambitions with Witney on hold tomorrow as they take on Kidlington Old Boys in the Oxfordshire Senior Cup second round at Marriotts Stadium.

Witney defender Ben Border returns and Scott Dash is back from suspension.

Despite missing out on Henry, Chipping Norton Town have been boosted by centre back Jon Muttock turning down a move to Abingdon United.

He lines up for Chippy in the home game against Watlington Town. However, they will be without Seb Wilsker (knee), while Gareth Davies (calf) is a doubt.

Bicester Town travel to Senior League side Chinnor without goalkeeper Steve Roberts, who is suspended.

Ardley United goalkeeper Martin Woodward is also serving a ban and misses the home tie with fellow Division 1 West side Headington Amateurs. Tom Goldthorpe (knee ligaments) faces a long spell on the sidelines.

Hook Norton will be without Andy Parrott (cracked ribs) for their home tie with Launton Sports, but Russell Wilkins returns from suspension.
